Principals
Brian M. Poulin is a Principal of Evergreen Partners, LLC. Brian has a background in tax law and has been a developer and owner of rental real estate for over 20 years. Brian is also a Principal of Preservation Management, Inc., an affiliated property management company and Evergreen Communities, LLC, a real estate development company focused on new construction of affordable housing. Brian's roles include the oversight of all stages of acquisition, financing and rehabilitation of commercial and residential real estate, as well as oversight of ongoing operations of existing properties. Prior to co-founding Evergreen Partners, Brian was a founding Principal in The Wishcamper Group and held positions with Wishcamper Properties, Inc., Baker Newman & Noyes, and KPMG Peat Marwick.
Brian is a graduate of Tufts University. He received a JD from University of Maine School of Law, and an LLM in taxation from Boston University School of Law. Brian currently serves as Board President for The Institute for Responsible Housing Preservation. In addition, Brian also serves on the board of the the National Leased Housing Association and has served as Board President for Shalom House, a large Maine non-profit that provides housing and services to individuals living with mental illness.
William A. Houlihan is a Principal of Evergreen Partners, LLC. Bill has been engaged in the tax, finance and accounting aspects of real estate development for over 20 years. Bill is also a Principal of Preservation Management, Inc., an affiliated property management company and Evergreen Communities, LLC, a real estate development company focused on new construction of affordable housing. Prior to co-founding Evergreen Partners, Bill was a founding Principal in The Wishcamper Group and was a Vice President and Controller of Wishcamper Properties, Inc. and Housing Resources Corporation.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Maine. Bill has been the Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Board of Trustees for a local non-profit organization for over 15 years and is involved in other civic and community activities.
Charles E. Allen is a principal of Evergreen Partners, LLC. Charlie has worked in affordable housing finance for twenty years and has structured and closed more that one hundred and twenty transactions over that period. The transactions included various types of transfers and refinancings, often in the early pioneering stages of a given HUD or HFA based program. Virtually all of these transactions have involved the recapitalization of existing government regulated housing. Charlie is also a principal in Evergreen Communities, LLC, a real estate development company focused on new construction of affordable housing. Before moving over to the principal side in 2003, Charlie was at Recap Advisors, Inc., a Boston based consulting firm. Prior to that, Charlie worked at the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development where he coordinated a rental development program as well as the Agency's early efforts to preserve the federally assisted portfolio. Charlie's primary role with Evergreen is to identify acquisition opportunities and to structure transaction plans for properties and portfolios. Charlie is also one of the owners of Preservation Management, Inc, an affiliated property management company. Charlie is a graduate of Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and has an MBA from Boston University. He serves as the Co-Chair of the Planning Board in Ipswich, MA, is a board member of an environmental education foundation, and participates in many other civic and community activities.
Prior to joining Evergreen Partners, he spent 2.5 years working for Brook Venture Partners, a venture capital fund based outside of Boston. While at Brook, Nick’s responsibilities focused around investment due diligence, sourcing investment opportunities and assisting partners in structuring transactions.
Additionally, Nick spent time working for John Moriarty & Associates, a nationwide construction management firm, where his roles ranged from field engineer to assisting the project management team in the $300 million redevelopment of the Charles River Plaza in downtown Boston.
Nick graduated from Bentley College in 2005 with honors.
Ewa is a licensed architect with 20 years of experience in building design, space planning, interior design, project management and construction administration. In her work at various architectural firms, Ewa managed projects ranging from $1 - $20 million, working for educational, commercial, retail, institutional and military clients. Her broad exposure to different project types allows her to manage and oversee every aspect of design and construction, from building components and systems to structural, mechanical and civil engineering.
Prior to coming to Evergreen, Ewa worked for seven years for the Hannaford Brothers Engineering Department as a Design Project Manager, designing and managing over 24 retail projects located throughout New England, New York and Virginia.
Ewa was born in Lodz, Poland where she studied sociology, and architectural and civil engineering. She came to the United States in 1979, living in New York City. She has lived in southern Maine since 1981.
